Bracknell Town FC and Sandhurst Town FC Unveil Revolutionary New 3G Football Pitch

SANDHURST, Berkshire – 1st August 2023 – In an exciting move that sets the benchmark for sports facilities across the UK, The SB Stadium home to both Bracknell Town FC and Sandhurst Town FC proudly announce the unveiling of their new, state-of-the-art artificial 3G football pitch. This next-generation pitch is the first of its kind in the UK and utilises Bioflex, a natural material typically approved for use in toys and food production.

Traditionally, 3G pitches utilise rubber, a material which poses significant environmental concerns as it can enter waterways during clothes washing or heavy rainfall. The clubs’ innovative new pitch eliminates this issue, setting a standard for eco-friendly practices within the sports industry.

“Bracknell Town FC and Sandhurst Town FC are proud to lead the way in sustainable football facilities. We’re thrilled to offer our players a safer, greener and more reliable playing field while reducing our clubs’ environmental impact,” says Kayne Steinborn-Busse, Chairman of The SB Sports & Education Group Owners of Bracknell Town FC & Sandhurst Town FC.

Bioflex, the organically sourced substance used instead of rubber, has been certified by FIFA, ensuring the pitch’s compliance with all international standards for artificial football turf. This means that not only is the pitch environmentally friendly, but it also guarantees a safe and consistent surface that is designed to reduce player injuries.

Moreover, the innovative pitch is an all-weather surface, effectively minimising cancellations due to adverse weather conditions. This boosts the operational efficiency and sustainability of the clubs, ensuring that games can proceed in almost any weather.

“This new pitch signals an important step forward for football in the UK,” comments Kayne Steinborn-Busse. “This investment is part of our ongoing commitment to our players, fans and community. It allows us to elevate the dependability and safety of our playing ground, while markedly lessening our impact on the environment.”

The revolutionary pitch is a tangible testament to the clubs’ dedication to a greener, more sustainable future in football. As pioneers in the sport, Bracknell Town FC and Sandhurst Town FC are now on the frontline of eco-friendly practices within the industry.

The first home league games on the new pitch, located at Bottom Meadow, Sandhurst are:

Sandhurst Town FC: Saturday 5th August, 3pm v VCD Athletic in the Emirates FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round
Bracknell Town FC: Saturday 12th August, 3pm v Didcot Town
