The Robins secure the points in seven goal thriller

The Robins travelled to Hendon with an opportunity to put the league defeat at home to Yate Town behind them. Hendon made the Robins work hard for the victory in a game more for the neutrals rather than the travelling fans.

Hendon took the lead after only 2 minutes but the set back was short-lived as the Robins were gifted a way back into the match 4 minutes later when Mickel Platt was on hand to poke the ball home through the goalkeepers’ legs.

As the half progressed, the Hendon defence began to stuggle with the pace and strength of the Robin’s attacking unit and a second goal looked on the cards. A few chances went begging but we were reward after 23 minutes when Mickel Platt volleyed us into the lead.

The 1st half ended with a narrow lead, but the signs were good for the Robins to kick on and add to their advantage.

It was Joe Grant’s turn take centre stage and following another defensive error the ball was played into the box and a diving header found the roof of the net to put the Robins 3-1 and seemingly in control.

Hendon had other ideas and pulled a goal back after 66 minutes when Demuria headed home from a corner. Undeterred, the Robins continued to dominate and despite failing to convert a couple of chances the Robins restored their two goal advantage when Joe Grant volleyed home a cross at the far post.

Hendon to their credit did not give up and scored a consolation goal deep into injury time to once again reduce the deficit.

The game ended and the Robins deservedly took the points. The result was a little closer than it could have been, but a win is a win, and the Robins move a little closer to the play-off slots.
