NEWS & REPORTS

BRACKNELL TOWN 2 v BINFIELD 0

THE ROBINS LIFT THE SENIOR TROPHY

After the last day disappointment in the league where Highworth Town spoiled the party and Henley Town rolled over and allowed Thame to pile in the goals they needed to put pressure on The Robins the team bounced back in style and brought silverware back to the Lane. Victory in the Senior County Cup Trophy was just rewards for an excellent season where the whole squad and management team have worked tirelessly for the past 9 months.

It’s not over yet as we are still in two more cup competitions and a chance to add to the trophy cabinet.

Bracknell Town 4 v Longlevens AFC 1 (25th March)

The Robins remain in the race for the title with a comfortable victory over Longlevens AFC. An excellent hat trick from Adam Cornell and a own goal was enough to see off a spirited Longlevens. Another large crowd at the Lane witnessed the Robins bounce back from their defeat away at Ardley. Two first half goals from Adam put us in to a comfortable lead only for Longlevens to score just before the break. Another potential slip up was averted with a dominant second half performance in to a stong wind when Adam went on to complete his hat trick. The result was put beyond any doubt when great work from Kensley resulted in an own goal to put the match out of reach.

We are still relying on a slip up from Thame but and long as we win our remaining games we are still in with a shout for the title as long as Thame drop points in their last 2 matches.

BRANCKNELL TOWN 7 v BRIMSCOMBE & THRUPP 2

FOUR GOALS FROM SEB IN EMPHATIC VICTORY

The large crowd at the The Lane were treated to a goal fest as The Robins ran out 7-2 winners in a dominant display.

On the front foot from the off, it did not take too long to assume control of the match as The Robins raced to a 3 – 0 lead with Seb netting twice and a customary goal from TJ. Brimscombe did reduce the deficit but Seb completed his 1st half hat trick to put us 4-1 up at the break.

It was much the same in the 2nd half as The Robins continued to play on the front foot with Seb scoring his fourth. Brimscombe added their 2nd before TJ and veteran Ian Davies came off the bench to score the 8th & 9th goal of the day to conclude proceedings.

Thatcham’s victory over Flackwell effectively ended their their title hopes but with Thame victorious and now with only 5 games left we maintain our 1 point lead at the top as the race for the title between the two teams looks like going down to the wire.

Bracknell Town 2 v Ardley United 1 (4th March)

Another vital victory against Ardley United in the title race. After going a goal behind the Robins drew level with a goal from Gavin Smith and TJ put us in front with a goal from close range.
