Former loan star takes on Manchester United

Jermaine McGlashan will be a name remembered only by a small number of hardened Robins, but last night the tricky winger took on the might of Manchester United in the Carling Cup for Aldershot Town.

McGlashan had a brief but succesful spell on loan at Larges Lane from Staines Town under Jon Underwood in 2006.

Robins followers will remember a terrific display from the loan-star during the long trip to Bridgwater Town in the Southern League, a game the Robins drew 1-1 but arguably deserved more from.

In an interview with getbracknell.co.uk, Underwood described the game as “best performance of the season”.

The article describes the game as “Underwood’s side produced a much-improved display in Somerset and pulled off a real shocker in the 1-1 draw against third-placed Bridgwater.”

Underwood goes on to say “Jermaine had his best game yet for us and Bridgwater couldn’t live with him at times.

“He is a young player and that should give him great confidence.”

McGlashan has been with Aldershot since 2010 and is now a first team regular having had trials at Bristol Rovers, Hayes & Yeading and Southampton.
