Rayners Lane the visitors in hotly anticipated clash

August 17, 2012 by Robin in Featured, First Team with 0 Comments

It’s back to the promotion business this weekend as BRACKNELL TOWN take on hotly tipped Rayners Lane at Larges Lane on Saturday (ko 3pm) sponsored by Inchcape Ford Bracknell.

And managers Danny Oliphant and Steve Nebbett face a selection headache with several players unavailable, but it will give a chance to several players yet to feature in the First Team.

Sam and Tom Barratt are away, while the Bracknell Standard reported this week that Liam Alleyne is also unavailable for selection, but James Rogers is in with a shout having served his suspension and Alex Luis could make his debut.

The Robins season, for the first time in as long as most of us can remember, is off to a flyer following their 4-1 win at Thatcham Town Reserves, and 2-1 FA Cup triumph over Binfield – but Rayners Lane will likely provide their toughest opposition yet.

The visitors are also unbeaten but have played two league games scoring 9 goals – a 4-2 win at Easington Sports and a 5-0 demolition of Henley Town.

The Lane dangerman is 37 year old former Hampton & Richmond Borough and Maidenhead United forward Lawrence Yaku (pictured) who has scored five of their nine goals this term, despite reportedly retiring at the end of the 2010/11 season.

Following on from the impressive attendance of 375 last Saturday, the club are hoping for something similiar according to assistant manager Bob Langridge who spoke to the Bracknell Forest Standard this week.

“The club is really buzzing and everyone is so impressed with how things are looking.

“Everything seems to be coming together and Saturday was definitely the best day since I’ve been here.

“The support we had was tremendous, behind the goal there must have been 150 Bracknell fans who were signing all game which is really nice to see – let’s just hope that continues.”

If you are heading to the game, why not add yourself to our facebook event, the first four (excluding TC) will receive free entry to the game.

Bracknell Town vs. Rayners Lane is proudly sponsored by Inchcape Ford Bracknell.
