Scorers: Genovesi, Bignall

The crowd of 352 were given a taster of what to expect this season as The Robins put a last week’s disappointing performance behind them with a dominant first-half display that paved the way to secure all three points in the first league home match of the season.

The performance and intensity levels were a giant step in the right direction and more in-line with what is expected this season. Despite an early scare, The Robins took control of the game and started to cause problems to Uxbridge’s defensive line. Minhas and Bignall working hard to create opportunities which unfortunately did not bear fruit.

After 20 mins the hard work was rewarded when Minhas found himself in space and his resulting shot rebounded off the inside of the post and Man of the Match Genovesi was at hand to slot in from close range.

Now in the ascendency, we continued to put pressure on Uxbridge’s defensive unit and it did not take too long to double our lead when 5 minutes later Bignall’s turn and shot found the bottom corner of the net.

A mixture of bad luck and a couple of good saves stopped us increasing our lead at the break.

Uxbridge stepped up a gear in the second half as they looked to get back into the match and the teams look more evenly matched. We lost a little control of the game but Scott and the defensive until held firm despite a couple of close shaves. We were still creating opportunities at the other end to kill the game off but failed to add to the half time lead.

Good signs and plenty to build on as the newly formed squad look to settle down and improve as the season progresses.
