ROBINS PUT 4 PAST LEVENS TO TAKE THE POINTS

Larges Lane cut a very wintry scene for the visit of Longlevens, but the 3G surface stood up to the constant snowfall. Manager Carl Davies taking charge of his first home game, made one change to the team bringing in Khalid Senussi for Jon Bennett.

grantyThe Robins were on the attack right from the first whistle and could of have taken the lead after 30 seconds when Bowerman tried to curl a low effort past Ash Wintle, but the Levens stopper was equal to it. They continued to pile early pressure on the Levens back line and found the breakthrough on 4 minutes. An attempted through ball fell to Joe Grant, as he advanced towards goal, Wintle came charging out and Grant calmly lifted the ball over him from 30 yards. It seemed the take an age to cross the goal line and despite the best efforts of a back tracking Levens defender it eventually did.

The lead was doubled just 3 minutes later when Jamie McClurg slotted home a close range effort from a Ryan Parsons’ cross. The ever busy  Maloney and McClurg controlled the middle of the park and excellent back four limited the visitors to long range efforts on goal, the closest was a cross come shot that Chris Grace had to tip over the bar.

GrantJust past the half hour mark Joe Grant had his second and Bracknell’s third, Bowerman put Senussi’s cross back across goal for Grant and his left footed half volley flew high into the net. They looked to add to their advantage in the 15 minutes remaining but went in at the break with a comfortable 3 goal lead.

TJThe second half like the first started with the Robins going straight on the attack but they came up against a more resolute Longlevens back line. The space and gaps that they exploited in the first half weren’t there anyway more and when they did find space and get an effort on target they found Ash Wintle in fine form. Max Herbert, Elliott Legg and TJ Bohane came off the bench and it was the latter who who broke the second half dead lock 8 minutes from time, when he hit a left footed rocket over Wintle from 30 yards to cap off a dominant display.
