RATIONALE

The aim of this project would be to provide educational opportunities developed through a sporting context. The course would allow students to continue on their educational pathway, opening doors to higher education, coaching in the local community or industry whist also enhancing their practical and leadership skills.

The aim of the programme is to provide the following:

1) Educational qualifications. 

This is achieved by the provision of the BTEC Extended Certificate in Sport (Level 2) or the BTEC Subsidiary Diploma in Sport (Level 3) as well as GCSE Maths and English/Functional Skills Maths and English.

2) Vocational qualifications and training. 

Students will complete a number of Coaching Qualifications including; The FA Level 1 and, potentially, The FA Level 2 Coaching Modules.

3) Coaching in the Community

Students will be required to lead coaching sessions for others of varying age groups in the club and the local community in order to demonstrate social responsibility and meet BTEC requirements for leadership and coaching.
