Last season: Ascot United have seen a rapid rise from the Reading Senior League to the Hellenic Premier Division over the last couple of years, and will be expected to improve on last seasons debut 15th position finish.
United were only promoted to the Hellenic League three seasons ago after winning the Reading League Premier Division in season 2006/07.
The Yellamen quickly made their mark the following season in Hellenic Division 1 East, finishing fourth, two places behind fellow Reading League graduates Marlow United. United followed that up with second place and promotion to the Hellenic Premier behind local rivals Binfield in 2008/09.
Last season was a mixed bag with inconsistent results and a poor start to the season, but with the new Racecourse Ground club house set to open in August and a couple of astute signings, notably former Robin John Finneston, things are looking promising.
Have we been there before?: Not from memory.
The ground is surrounded by the famous Ascot Racecourse, a fantastic setting considering the relatively recent course redevelopments, and the new AUFC club house looks welcoming from the pictures.
What’s it famous for?: Unarguabley, Ascot is most famous for Royal Ascot week and probably Ladies Day. A video of which can be seen here - www.getbracknell.co.uk/p/2073015
To do list: According to Wikipedia, Tittenhurst Park is the former home of the Beatles John Lennon and Ringo Starr and is located in Ascot.
Aparently, the lovely Girls Aloud singer Sarah Harding was born there AND Chris Evans is now a resident and is regularly seen in the local pubs.
We’re also aware of daytime TV ‘celebrity’ Jeremy Kyle being located in the area.
